طرق تصنيف المطارات حول العالم

Airports have many classifications depending on their functions, size, and ownership.
The broadest classification is civil and military, international and domestic.(1)
*The classification of airports means give code letter and code number to airport to
 determine airport's characteristics.)
Types of classification:)
1-classificate according to fedral aviation administration (FAA).
2-classificate according to international civil aviation orientation (ICAO)  .

*The main factor in classification is the characteristics of critical aircraft.
*Aircraft characteristics:
(1) Aircraft capacity.
(2) Aircraft speed.
(3) Aircraft weight and wheel
Arrangement.
(4) Fuel spilling.
(5) Jet blast.
(6) Minimum circling radius.
(7) Minimum turning radius.
(8) Noise
(9) Range
(10) Size of aircraft
(11) Take off and landing distances
(12) Type of propulsion
(13) Tyre pressure and contact area
*Critical aircraft is the largest airplane lands at airport with highest requirements .)
*Both the ICAO and the FAA use simple classifications schemes :
*ICAO code number depends on reference field length.
*Reference field length:
It is the length which the aeroplane lands on it and take off from it.
*ICAO  code letter depends on airplane wing span (WS) and outer main gear span (OMG).
*second code element for ICAO limits from (A to E)..((A) is small-(E)is large)) and FAA limits from (I to VI)..((I)is slow-(VI) is fast)).
*classificate any airport all over the world = code number + code letter.*FAA code letter depends on the approach speed (AS)..The approach speed is 1.3 times the stall speed in the aircraft’s landing configuration at maximum landing weight
*any airport will classified in the same way by ICAO and the FAA, on the basis of wing span.
*The difference between FAA and ICAO is the FAA use roman numerals and the ICAO use capital letter.
*Second code element:
The second code element is the one that largely determines the geometric design standards at airports because it reflects the physical characteristic of aircrafts using wing span as the primary indicator of airplane size
